Situated in the old town centre, this is the oldest church in Varenna, probably one of the first to be erected along the shores of Lake Como as Christianity spread to the region. The building we see today, a nave with a single apse, is typically Romanic in style, although the paintings that embellish it are more recent, from the fifteenth century, and typify that particular Lombardic taste, sharp in colors and eloquent in gestures.
